Your passwords
Passwords are generated with a secure random source in your browser and are never uploaded or stored.
🔒 Everything is calculated in your browser. No data is sent to any server.
How to use
- Drag the slider or type a number to set the length (4–128), then pick the character types: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols.
- If you need to write the password down or read it aloud, tick “Exclude look-alike characters” to avoid I, l, 1, O, 0 and similar.
- Any change regenerates the list automatically. Strength and entropy (bits) are shown above; hit “Copy” next to a password, or “Regenerate” for a fresh batch.
FAQ
Are the passwords sent to a server?
No. Passwords are generated entirely in your browser with crypto.getRandomValues. They are never uploaded, logged or saved to localStorage, and they disappear when you close the page.
How long should a password be?
Use at least 12–16 characters mixing all four character types for everyday accounts, and 16+ for critical ones such as email, banking or your password manager’s master password. Length beats complexity: each extra character multiplies the brute-force effort by the size of the character pool.
What does entropy (bits) mean?
Entropy measures how unpredictable a password is, calculated as length × log2(pool size). A 16-character password using all 94 characters has about 105 bits. This tool rates below 40 bits as weak, below 60 as fair, below 80 as strong and 80+ as very strong.
Why exclude look-alike characters?
Uppercase I, lowercase l, the digit 1, the pipe |, uppercase O, zero and lowercase o look alike in many fonts, which causes mistakes when copying by hand or reading aloud. Excluding them shrinks the pool slightly, so add a character or two to make up the entropy.
